The Gardnervillains - Saturday 8/24/2024 - 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. - Comma Courtyard
The Gardnervillains jazz combo delights in presenting fresh interpretations of classic
swing music from the Great American Songbook, lots of danceable tunes from latin
genres such as bossa nova and samba. The Duo loves to improvise on blues, bossa and more
and guarantees to get audiences toes tappin' and fingers snappin'.
Members of the full group are Shorty Garcia, guitar;
Tim Goldsmith, bass; Touraj Tajbakhsh, piano; Jim Grubbs, drums; and Stephanie Budick, vocals. Shorty
and Tim will be playing as the Garnervillains (Duo) for the festival opening event on Aug. 16.

Carson Street Ragtime Band - Saturday 8/24/2024 - 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. - Carson City Historical Society Ice Cream Social
The Carson City Historical Society issued the following press release:
"The annual Carson City Historical Society's Ice Cream Social is Saturday, Aug. 24th,
from 3-5 p.m. at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum Park, 1207 N. Carson Street, Carson City.
The Carson Street Ragtime Band, a group of local musicians will whisk you away to
the golden age of jazz with their classic, upbeat swing tunes from the 1920s, '30s,
and more. They feature an eclectic mix of instruments such as trumpet, trombone, piano,
bass, banjo, vocals, and washboard. Donations are highly encouraged, as this is a fund
raiser for CCHS. Bring a chair, use one of ours, or bring a blanket and sit on the grass
to enjoy the evening's entertainment.
Also, an exhibit of Nevada trains by Andrea Hobbs will be on display concurrently
in the Foreman-Roberts House from 3 to 5 p.m., during the Ice Cream Social. The exhibit will
also be on display during Historical Society's Open Houses on subsequent Sunday, from 1 to 3 p.m."

The Carson Street Ragtime Band is a musical ensemble that specializes in performing music
from the 1920s, 1930s, and beyond, including swing, dixieland, and ragtime genres. The ensemble is
also performing as part of the Jazz & Beyond Music Festival on Monday, Aug. 19, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
at Comma Courtyard.
Members of the group are Will Caglia - Piano, Emerson White - Washboard, Cassidy Robinson -
Trumpet, Millie Bratsch - Vocals, Doug Davies - Bass,
James Dunlap - Trombone, Mark Kuniya - Banjo
