Annual Ice Cream Social is Chillin' Your Way!
Get ready, Carson City - it's time to loosen your
belts and tighten your bonnet strings! The Carson
City Historical Society's Annual Ice Cream Social is
back and cooler than ever. Join us Saturday,
August 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the delightfully
vintage Foreman-Roberts House Park, 1207 North
Carson Street.
For just three measly bucks, you'll score a
delicious scoop (or two... or three - we're not
counting) of good old-fashioned ice cream. Tap
your toes to ragtime melodies by The Carson Street
Ragtime Band while lounging under leafy shade like
it's 1899 and chores haven't been invented yet.
Take a breezy stroll through the Foreman-Roberts
House, open free to the public for the day. It's your
chance to admire 19th-century craftsmanship
without having to churn butter afterward.
Admission is free, though we'll happily accept
donations, because historic preservation isn't
cheap, and we've got wallpaper older than most
houseplants.
Bring your friends, your family, your lactose-
tolerant alter ego, and a hearty appetite for history.
Let's scoop, stroll, and support the stories that
make Carson City cool.
Call 775-315-9111 for all the frozen facts.

a BAC Levitt Concert
Date: Saturday, August 16, 2025
Time: 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Location: Brewery Arts Center outdoor stage, 449 W. King St.
Opening Act: Among Friends (at 7:00 p.m.)
Main Attraction: Swagger (at around 8:15 p.m.)
Swagger was formed by Rick Butler in 2007 when he moved from California to Utah
bringing his love of Irish music. Along with a local fiddler Dennis Harrington from
(Chicago), put together a group of local musicians to form the band. Swagger played their
first pub show at the PipderDown on April 24th, 2007. The match was lit & the Band took off.
Swagger has been honing their original brand of Celtic music at festivals and concert
halls across the United States ever since. Well known for their high-energy stage
performances and catchy original songs, Swagger's music is the expected Irish
celebration of drink, mischief, and music, which also dares to explore oppression
and take an emigrant's perspective on the virtues and vices of the Irish-American culture.
Along the way, the band has shared the stage with such groups as The Young Dubliners,
The English Beat,The Clumsy Lovers, Howard Jones, Brother, Albanach, Andy Frasco,
just to name a few. In 2010 Swagger assembled Utah's 1st. Irish Music Festival at
Deer Valley in front of 5,000 new fans. After 3 years of hosting their own
Irish festival, the band hit the road performing at festivals along the west coast.
Swagger has released 4 studio albums, Trouble on the Green (2008), The Grave (2010),
America Land (2013) & Gypsy Road (2017). The Band consist of Rick Butler, (Manager,
Lead Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin, & Banjo), Dennis Harrington (Fiddle & Vocals),
Trip Marshall (Lead Guitar &Mandolin), Manny Slack (Bass & Vocals), Mike Bailey (Drums),
Eric Slaymaker (Vocals, Tin Whistle, & Mandolin). Swagger's line up of veteran musicians
blend in rock, blues, jazz, classical, bluegrass, reggae and country music styles.
Their musicianship and live performances give their audiences a truly complete
entertainment experience to remember.
This event is sponsored by the Brewery Arts Center
