Nancy Harris McLelland, Larry Marinel & Jo Foster (cowboy poets)
Date: Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025
Time: 4:00 to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Silver Saddle Ranch, Carson River Road
Unfortunately, poet Nancy Harris MdLelland will not be reading her
poems on Aug. 17 due to illness (loss of voice).
An Elko County native, Nancy Harris McLelland grew up on ranches along
the flank of the Ruby Mountains - from a small cow calf outfit in Lee, to the
showplace 71 Ranch in Starr Valley, and the Marble Ranch headquarters in Deeth.
At present, she divides her time between Carson City and her perienniel
fixer-upper in Tuscarora, Nevada. McLelland has presented her "Poems from Tuscarora"
at both daytime and evening events at the Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko.
Nancy's website is www.grreighties.com.
Jo Foster and Larry Marinel are outdoor enthusiasts with a love for Nevada and
Cowboy Poetry. The Cowboy Gathering in Elko is a favorite destination of theirs for inspiration
and entertainment. Jo Foster is a recently-minted cowboy poet. In 2016, she retired
as an ecology professor from Wartburg College, located in Waverly, Iowa. However,
her heart called her back to Nevada where her family lived since 1969. She and her
husband Larry became fans of cowboy poetry at their introduction to this genre
in Elko, NV. After seeing how much fun Larry had creating his poems, she decided to
join in too.

singer/entertainer in the Reno, Carson, and Lake Tahoe areas. Other bandmembers
include popular musicians, Nancy Barker on keys, Mark Wilson on guitar,
Tommy Stiles on pedal steel, Catherine Matovich on fiddle, and Erik Dormody on drums.
Members of the band are Cherie Shipley - vocals, Nancy Barker - keys,
Tommy Stiles - pedal steel, Mark Wilson - guitar, Catherine Matovich - fiddle,
and Erik Dormody - drums.
Seating is limited - bring chairs.
